A month of whirlwind

Our month started by us sharing the gospel at a wedding Gabor officiated and ended by sharing Christ at a Buddhist funeral. These two endings tells a lot about the whirlwind we had in the past month while we are in Hungary.

Two days after we’ve arrived to Hungary we had the privilege to marry our son’s, Renato’s best friend. We’ve spent many weeks with them online prior arriving to Hungary to prepare them for marriage and help them grow in their new faith. Of the 82 participants only a handful were believers, so it gave us a great opportunity to share the beautiful message of God’s Kingdom.

A few days later we’ve traveled to visit the young couple, Arpi and Zsuzsa (picture above) we discipled in the past two years online. It was amazing to see how their work is multiplied. Arpi introduced us to several of his new disciples who just became believers. Their church grew with 30 new members in the past year - all new believers.

Then we had the privilege to speak at “SpeakOut” summer camp (image above). What a joy to see that after almost 30 years this camp still provides great opportunity for many students to hear the gospel. Speaking to these students about how to walk with God through the journey of life was a great opportunity.

The month ended with a very sad moment. My best friend (Gabor’s) from high school suddenly passed away. During our high school years I’ve shared Christ with him many times, took him to church and read the Bible with him. But he made a choice to become a Buddhist. This was the first time I went to a Buddhist funeral. It was the most hopeless, depressing and demonic funeral I’ve ever been at. Many people were chanting, smoking dope and talking non-sense. I couldn’t believe that people actually give themselves over to such irrational practices instead of giving themselves to Christ. God provided great opportunity for me to speak with a former classmate about Christ. This sad moment reminded me how desperate people are and how important for us all to boldly proclaim the saving message of the gospel.
