Mobilized to Multiply!
In March of 2020 we met Shawn, an Outreach Pastor in Ft. Lauderdale. At that time, he and Roberto were hearing from the Lord to change their mission’s paradigm. From their robust mega-church with multi-site campuses – they began to hear a call to disciple-making and conversational evangelism. Their church's previously adopted growth model had seen some fruit, but the Lord convinced Shawn to set new direction.
After meeting our team has gladly invested in his life and ministry – traveling four times to Ft. Lauderdale and having coaching circle meetings online. One lay leader trained said, “This training is for those who wish to reach their full potential as a Jesus follower, who has the courage to change their life, who look to build a healthy and trustworthy process for making disciples in a contemporary society. It challenges our status quo.”
Since 2020 Shawn and his team have trained about 450 people in our Sent 6:7 disciple-making and evangelism process. Those trained have lived a vibrant missional lifestyle of praying for their lost friends, showing care to them, and sharing the gospel with them (a Prayer-Care-Share lifestyle). Now, they are seeing disciples of Jesus multiply! Here are some highlights of their ministry:
They started using their time differently, being very intentional to serve their community and share their faith.
75 of their church’s community groups now have a Life Mission Coordinator. 750 people are going through Step 1 of our Sent 6:7 process called Becoming a CoJourner and are beginning to make disciples leading to a new church plant effort.
A mobilization team of six has formed. Those six leaders have about 10 leadership groups with 10-12 members each going through the Step 4 of our training process – learning to plant new faith communities and churches in target areas. About 150 are learning to advance the gospel in practical, personal and very fruitful ways!
Moments from the Field
Recently, 16 of our Church Movements staff served at the Exponential conference where 6,000 pastors, church planters, missionary leaders and outreach pastors gathered for collaboration and deep learning.
Staff member, John, with pastors & partners, has a vision and plan for developing a rural ministry which consists of a multiplying ministry in 570 towns in Minnesota under 5,000 population.
John facilitates a coaching circle of 10 people, five brand new from a recent Sent 6:7 training. One of the new people has shared the gospel and seen two people receive Jesus in the last week!
Paul, a church-planter in FL, began meeting with Ben, a Church Movements staff member, because of their shared love for evangelism. Paul became convinced that SENT 6:7 was the right process for his 6-months-new church-plant to begin establishing new faith communities in their neighborhoods. So far they have:
trained (and provide on-going coaching) for their leaders
started 6 new neighborhood groups
established 20 new believers in following Christ
They were trusting God for 8 new neighborhood faith communities, but God asked them to "add a zero" and trust Him for 'the impossible'-- 80 new faith groups!
